Glittery Glam Halloween Looks for Party Week

Today is day three in our new cake series, EEEK It’s Halloween Week! Five talented bakers were invited to create fresh designs inspired by Halloween, bringing the holiday’s spirit to life in modern and unexpected ways. Each baker worked within a black-and-white color palette and a specific theme, producing a week of stylish and inspiring cakes. We’ve already shared the Classic Halloween and Modern Chic categories, and now we move into Glittery Glam.

This third Halloween cake is by Rachael Teufel, owner of Intricate Icings Cake Design in Erie, Colorado. Rachael has long delighted us with elegant, fashion-forward cakes. Her work often translates couture details into cake form, and this design is a standout example. Drawing direct inspiration from a striking Oscar de la Renta gown, she transformed high fashion into a Halloween statement: a sleek black-and-white striped dress rendered in sugar, accented with purple edible glitter and flying bats. The finished piece blends a little Beetlejuice playfulness with full-on Glittery Glam.

I couldn’t help but squeal when I first saw this cake. The precision of the stripes and the movement captured in the fondant and modeling chocolate are simply breathtaking. It’s a perfect example of how a single fashion image can spark a cake that feels both couture and playful.

From Rachael at Intricate Icings:

“Glitz and glam are right up my alley. I love a little sparkle — who doesn’t? I always begin with an inspiration piece to guide the design. For this cake, I chose a black-and-white striped gown by Oscar de la Renta. The gown’s dramatic stripes and sweeping drape felt perfect for a glamorous Halloween cake, especially with a hint of Beetlejuice-style edge.”

Rachael explains her technique:

“I began by covering the cake in white fondant, then added a purple layer for the under-skirt. The flowing fabric at the hem was sculpted from modeling chocolate, and each black stripe was hand-cut and placed to follow the drape and folds. I also cut two bats by hand and dusted them and the under-skirt with edible purple glitter to add that final touch of glamour.”

The striped work on this cake is extraordinary. Vertical, horizontal, diagonal — every stripe is considered and placed to emphasize movement and form. The front fold aligns perfectly with the underlying pattern to create a crisp V, and the layered, draped stripes form soft folds that look as if fabric is actually cascading down the cake. The level of tailoring and attention to detail is remarkable.

If there were a crown for the Queen of Stripes, it would rest on Rachael’s head after this cake. The combination of immaculate stripes, delicate purple glitter, and elegant bat accents creates the perfect mix of Beetlejuice whimsy and chic witchy glamour — quintessential Glittery Glam Halloween.

Special thanks to Rachael of Intricate Icings Cake Design for sharing this breathtaking work and for inspiring us with such a refined and inventive Halloween cake. Also thanks to the photographers for capturing the details so beautifully.
