Gardening is something close to our hearts. Whether your tools live in a shed or in a corner of the garage, a few simple changes can make them easier to find and keep ready for planting season.
MATERIALS & TOOLS
- Shelves (sturdy, easy to clean)
- Large S-hook or bracket for hose storage
- Small hook for hanging the watering can
- Thin nails or pegboard pegs for securing hand tools
- Small bucket or container for miscellaneous items and tools without hanging holes
INSTRUCTIONS
- Start with a shelving unit as the foundation for your organization. Upcycled pallet shelves work well, but any stable shelf that fits your space will do.
- Install hooks so tools can hang visibly and be grabbed quickly. Hanging the watering can on a small hook prevents water rings and puddles on the floor.
- Use thin nails, screw-in hooks, or pegboard pegs to hold smaller shovels and hand tools in place. This keeps them accessible even while wearing gloves.
- Add a wall-mounted thermometer or simple weather gauge to track seasonal changes. It helps you decide when to plant and when tender plants need protection.
- Keep a small bucket or container on a shelf for odds and ends—twine, labels, seed packets, and tools that don’t have hanging holes.
TIP: Upcycled pallet shelves are charming and practical; consider whitewashing them if you prefer a lighter look. Ultimately choose shelves that are easy to wipe clean or that you don’t mind getting dirty—durability is more important than perfect appearance when it comes to garden storage.
