Equipment

  • Chef’s Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 serrano or jalapeño, finely chopped (remove seeds for less heat)
  • 1 mango, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1/4 bunch cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 roma tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/4 onion, finely chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  • Place the finely chopped serrano or jalapeño, mango, cilantro, roma tomato, and onion into a mixing bowl.
  • Add the lime juice and season with salt to your preference.
  • Gently toss everything until evenly combined and the flavors marry.
  • For best flavor, chill the salsa for 10–15 minutes before serving, though you can serve it immediately if short on time.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, over ceviche, in tacos, alongside grilled fish or chicken, or as a bright topping for salads and bowls.

Notes

  • Choose a mango that is ripe but still slightly firm for easier chopping and the best texture.
  • To increase heat, add a second pepper or leave some seeds in when chopping.
  • This salsa is at its freshest the day it’s made, but you can refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
